The roadmap for version 4.9.9 was released earlier this week. The schedule currently proposes 4.9.9 being released during the first week of November. In addition to bug fixes, 4.9.9 will include features/updates around internationalization, accessibility, servehappy, and gutenberg preparation. Given this isn't a purely maintenance release, you'll want to begin plans for additional testing before deploying to production.
