One of our WPCampus traditions is to use the “previously allocated to swag” portion of our event planning budget to support a nonprofit organization. Swag is fun, but it can be wasteful. We choose to use those funds to help people in and outside of our community.
Traditionally, we sponsor a fundraising campaign to support an organization that is local to our in-person conference. For WPCampus 2019, we raised $3,000 for Free Geek in Portland, Oregon. For WPCampus 2020, which was hosted online, we matched $2,540 in donations to recognize and support the vital #BlackLivesMatter movement and those struggling with COVID-19.
We are honored to continue this tradition for WPCampus 2021 Online and ask that you join us in support of these wonderful organizations that we believe are making a big difference for our global community.
